Since its inception the
project has been running its child welfare programs by taking advantage of
the rich culture practiced throughout the Ugandan society.
This is a system whereby orphans and childcare is interacted in the
extended families of widowed mothers, aunts and uncles, grandparents and
in rare cases close family friends. This
method of community childcare avoids dismantling the social, cultural
network that exists within the Uganda society.
The program is run under two
major departments: Child
Welfare, and AIDS affected children and family support programme.
(1)
Child Welfare Department
The child
Welfare Department coordinates all activities related to the total needs
of the children. Areas of
emphasis include to care for the needs of children, cover educational
sponsorship, primary health care, medical welfare, family support,
spiritual counseling, career and moral guidance, as well as school and
village church outreach through music, dance and drama also video shows.
AIDS
affected children and Family Support Program
The
Organization has intensions to launch
the AIDS children and family support program responsible to the
outcry of the community towards the dreadful disease AIDS. It is claiming
hundreds and some children due to AIDS background have been recruited in
as ongoing child welfare program. At
the same time AIDS awareness seminars are being held in schools, villages
and religious institutions for preventive purposes and producing
behavioural change among the children.
(2)
Finance and Administration Department
The Finance
and Administration Department coordinates secretarial services, central
store keeping, cash receipts, payments and financial management issues.
It exists for the smooth running of the organization.
